Roles and Responsibilities
WWF-India is inviting applications from individuals for the
position of Project Officer – Species position to be a part of the Bettiah
Field Office, Bihar for its Wildlife and Habitat division.
Project officer-Species will be part of the Terai Arc Landscape
team of WWF India and a key member of the team based out of Bettiah, West
Champaran District, Bihar charged with implementation of conservation
activities in and around the Valmiki Tiger Reserve which together with Chitwan
National Park and Parsa Wildlife Sanctuary in Nepal forms an important
trans-boundary tiger conservation unit.
The selected candidate is expected to provide support for and
implement measures aimed at recovery of populations of tiger, co-predator and
prey and conservation of their habitat, assist in habitat management
initiatives and liaison with key stakeholder groups for effective
implementation of planned activities.

Job Profile:
Programme Development
Contribute and provide inputs
in developing work plans & budget for implementation of conservation
measures in and around Valmiki Tiger Reserve and other part of Terai Arc
Landscape as and when required.
Programme Implementation
·
Implement on-ground conservation measures to
support recovery of tiger, co-predator and prey populations in Valmiki Tiger
Reserve.
·
Support and involve in habitat recovery and
management initiatives for the Valmiki Tiger Reserve
·
Understanding and implement measures to address
human wildlife conflict
Networking and advocacy
·
Coordinate with forest department, other Govt
Departments, local communities and stakeholders for effective implementation of
project activities related to species conservation, habitat management and
conflict mitigation.
·
Masters in Wildlife Science/ Life Sciences/
Zoology/ Botany/ Forestry/ Environmental Science/Forest Management.
·
Two years of experience in working in wildlife/
conservation related issues.
·
Experience in wildlife monitoring (camera trapping,
direct count), knowledge of analytical methods/software used to monitor
terrestrial mammals is essential.
·
Good oral and written knowledge of English and
Hindi are imperative
Reporting
·
Assist Project Leader with technical reporting
(including data analysis, scientific reports/ papers) and project reporting.
Qualifications and
competencies required:
·
Masters in Wildlife Science/ Life Sciences/
Zoology/ Botany/ Forestry/ Environmental Science/Forest Management.
·
Two years of experience in working in wildlife/
conservation related issues.
·
Experience in wildlife monitoring (camera trapping,
direct count), knowledge of analytical methods/software used to monitor
terrestrial mammals is essential.
·
Good oral and written knowledge of English and
Hindi are imperative
